Who's Behind GrahamGrade

My name is Tyler, and I'm a principal software engineer with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Computer Science. I've been a retail investor for nearly a decade, and after losing some money in the early years I came across Warren Buffett's work, which led me to his teacher, Benjamin Graham. I read The Intelligent Investor among other financial books and never looked back. I've been applying Graham's criteria for around five years, and I didn't like how much manual effort was involved in collecting the data and performing the calculations. As a software engineer, I knew I could automate it. I spent the last three years slowly building the pieces of GrahamGrade and using it for myself before launching it publicly.

The Methodology

The screen applies Benjamin Graham's Enterprising Investor criteria from The Intelligent Investor to every publicly traded U.S. equity, roughly 5,000 tickers per cycle. Companies that clear every quantitative filter receive a written qualitative assessment drawn from SEC filings. The Graham Price calculation follows the formula Graham described: the square root of 22.5 times earnings per share times book value per share. It is a ceiling, not a price target.

Qualitative analysis is assisted by AI language models that analyze the full text of 10-K and 10-Q filings. GrahamGrade is a research tool.
